Extra-curricular activities

ART, CRAFT, MUSIC and DANCE  

Riverside Public School believes strongly in the all round development of the child thus physical, intellectual, aesthetic and spiritual growth are harmonised. We have a group of well-qualified and experienced teachers in Indian and Western Music, Dance, Karate, Art and Sculpture. Students devote the whole of Saturday and one week day to practice these activities with the teachers. All children are required to choose three fields of study from the following choices.

1. Carnatic (vocal or instrumental) or Western Music (vocal or instrumental)

2. Classical dance, Taek-wan-do or Yoga.

3. Art, craft, sculpture, needlework or woodwork.

These activities are compulsory till the 5^th standard. Students above the 6^th standard can opt out of any of these activities.

OTHER CLUBS

Students are also offered the choice of participating in various clubs guided by the staff. Among the clubs offered at present are the debating, drama, needle work, science, eco, quiz, photography, chess, journalism, multi-media, language, sculpture, catering and maths. Children from the 6^th to the 9^th standard take part in these once a week.

Students in the 10^th standard are required to attend the citizenship club which focuses on imparting universal citizenship values to the children. This involves extensive interaction with old age homes, orphanages and schools for the economically disadvantaged. They also attend several lectures and workshops on ecology preservation, civic duties, Gandhian philosophy etc.
